about blue blood
i did some thinking, and i'm wondering if i was too vulgar in using the term blue blood. and just what was i referring to by the term blue-blood?
well, my general stereotype of a blue-blood normally refers to someone who comes from a rather privileged background, who during childhood, imbibed massive amounts of BBC english and thus speaks like someone from queen's english or some BBC newscaster (their english is really, really good, sometimes at the expense of chinese). the are really rather rich, and their bodies are usually decorated with haute-couture or high fashion (i'm talking about LV, ermengildo zegna, and those european brands), and already having these items at tender ages. these people usually have an air of uppity noses, and are usually idealistic, sometimes to the point of naivete, and though they may have been drenched in perspiration before, usually, they never had much of mud and dirt on their bodies before. the girls are sometimes smart bimbos, and their hobbies consist of bitching when they are not doing sports. the guys? the guys are generally called snobs...
but then again, these are just stereotypes that most people have of rich kids in general. these are the people who are really smart, and usually have well-connected families that go something like: 'oh, i have this relative who works in the Cabinet' - yes, that kind of connected. they are the high power elites, and they are in their own social circles most of the time.
but not everyone with this kind of background are like that. generally, most of them are really genuine nice sincere people, who know that they are in a privileged background, and who are seriously interested in helping people, and they usually have bigger hearts than people give them credit for. i'm using blue-blood to refer to those snobs who don't care about people other than themselves.
and then there is the danger that these people are usually so well connected, that they might attain positions of great authority, and who are only interested in the status quo. i pray singapore will never devolve like that...
