march 23rd 2008

i am now really co-doing pangea day with shaun, and it isn't easy. Oh well! Onward to TEDglobal 2011 at Raffles City Convention! hahaha. It would be great if the TED could have a conference here in Singapore. It would generate literally billions for Singapore's economy, and not only spending, but the sheer synergy of ideas that might come out of it. It's extremely exhilirating just thinking of it.

Which brings me to my grouses. We can't seem to imagine enough, we are still *stuck* with the old definitions of success. My dream in life is to be able to do the things I love and hopefully make some money from the side.

Saw a TED presentation on the secrets of success, and TEDsters are there because they do what they LOVE! wooh!

alritey. Can we unstuck our minds and get on with doing what we love, instead of doing plain ordinary jobs we don't like but become stuck at? Can we imagine that?

I think it has gone to such a point where Singapore has become such an oppressive place for creative thought and imaginations. We can't imagine anymore, we can't imagine ourselves doing what we love... and that is so plain sad.

aarrrhhh...

I think somewhere in all of us, we aspire to greatness, but somehow this oppressive culture says that we shouldn't do anything too exceptional since it might get us nowhere. but that is a lie. In fact, very soon, we'll all have to be immensely crazy and bold in order to be survive economically in that future is coming so rapidly.

I hope our lives can be spent doing what we love.

just a quick update - stoopeed me

stupid me.

i didn't realise that i needed to register for special term 1 modules. anyway, they don't rock a lot so might as well. still wanna go for special 2 modules. but unfortunarely got china trip in july. enquiring about that.

realised today that actually don't want to do print. haha. i just want to write, and write freely. i like to tell stories or write commentary the gp-ish amateurish way, i guess, but thats not what people want.

i think singapore needs a new yorker.

looks like i'd better stick to TOC.
haha.

there is so much to be said about the print media and how it will have to adapt or die. seriously. are they doing enough? i don't know. will ST and SPH survive as they are around 2015? no, they would have changed beyond recognition.

waiting for the soul revolution?

INCREDIBLE! I actually ran 12km!

I just decided to run. And I ran, and ran, and I ran... 15km!

To God be the glory!

1st lap
4.03.5

2nd lap
4.06.0

3rd lap
4.11.3

4th lap
4.11.1

5th lap
4.09.9

6th lap
4.21.0

7th lap
4.15.3

8th lap
4.10.5

9th lap
4.12.5

10th lap
4.17.5

11th lap
4.24.6

12th lap
3.59.4

13th lap
4.21.1

14th lap
4.29.2

15th lap
3.58.7

So I can actually sustain a stable timing for... a long time. Wooh!

one lap is about 825m, so 15 laps would mean about, 12.375km! wooh! And I did this in about an hour, so my speed, in km/h, is actually about 12km/h, or about 3.44m/s. oh well. What a wonderful day.

16th march 2008 - nothing special here -

There is nothing special about today, but as I look back there have been some changes. I go to sunday services more often now, and ACTUALLY SITTING with the other dudes out there.

Meanwhile, I'm doing less Pangea Day, and doing more TED things. And I'm helping out with Kelvin at InteresThink, and setting up a community.

Saturday went to open house to clarify somethings. Yeah! Taking a second major DOES NOT MEAN you pay 2x tuition fees! hahaha. Oh darn and forgot to ask about taking breaks in between because of community service trip to China.

And I'm begin to outline the things that I'm going to do at NUS.

1. Spread the TED idea!

2. Start a prayer group with other like-minded christians.

I guess thats really it.

As for OLPC, i'll get that started on parallel with the TED idea.

oh well

No laptops till...

i went to the IT show and was kinda underwhelmed by the offers there. It was tempting, like those Asus gaming machines, but in the end, I didn't, because I wanted a Mac that I could WORK with, not play with. So I had to set my priorities right. MAC! Meanwhile, I would need to buy MAC office 08 and then, buy a Macbook with help from my sis, and everything will be fine yeah!

Meanwhile, hesitating about Special Term. Might not be so 'special' after all. Thinking about mapping of modules and all that kinda crap. Kinda sucky anyway. No proper support for USP-bound students who want to take early term. arrgh. oh well.

meanwhile, having fires to put out at home, which is rather emotional draining and all. and all the more pressurizing... aarrrggghh. if there's an area of my life that needs fixing, that will be it. sigh.

I love MAC

haha. guess the title says it all. i'll be getting a macbook at the IT fair, and i really hope i'll get my money's worth. because chances are, apple isn't going to give away their macbooks and half price or something, but it'll be great if they could like just give $300 worth of discounts or something. Haha!

hey! going to have a mac soon!
