why i love NYTimes and why Singapore media... well... frankly, it sucks...

I love the NYTimes. And I can't say the same thing for the SG media.

You go to the NYTimes website, the website is cleanly designed, there's a lot of exciting news, but more than that, there's an intellectual depth to the NYTimes , where the journalists are producing top quality news stories of their own, especially blogs such as Green Dot... and others... http://www.nytimes.com/ref/topnews/blog-index.html

This is in contrast to the ST blogs, where the journalists are just giving their opinions on certain items of popular culture. http://blogs.straitstimes.com

There's no... gravitas? There's no intelligent arbitrating of information for the intelligent reader. Going in this direction of thought, it seems to reflect as much about SG readers as much as it does about SG media.
